Dear brothers and sisters,
May this message find you in good spirits. As promised, I am writing to give you more information about the Black Brown Unity Worship event mentioned on my last email, happening this month.
But before I give you the details I would like to thank you for signing on to our Black Brown Immigration Reform letter. Towards the end of February, Rev. Walter Contreras and Rev. Michael Eagle (along with Rev. Alexia and Pastor Bridie) laid hands on Congress member Xavier Becerra and handed him our letter with 50 signatures.

The Immigration Town Hall held at SEIU ULTCW in Los Angeles brought in more than 500 people. Testimonies were shared and the Spirit filed the room with hope, and prayers for the people and for the Congressman. Thank you, Rev. Eagle and Rev. Contreras.
Please mark your calendars:

Pastors Prayer Breakfast— Last March, many of you came together to be in fellowship, to discuss the issues that bring us together—immigration reform, youth violence, and economic justice in our communities. Let us come back together to get up to date on the issues that have brought us together, be in fellowship over breakfast, join in prayer, and brainstorm next steps of action.

In commemoration of the ’92 Riots, let us come together to rejoice in the Spirit and to inspire our communities to come together. Join Bishop Blake (West Angeles Church and Rev. Molina (Iglesia de Restauracion) as they open the doors to their sanctuaries and invite us to come together for song and prayer. The theme of our service and action is Family Unity –Justice and Mercy. Our focus will be on lifting up all those families who are suffering because of unjust wages and lack of health care, a broken immigration system and violence in our streets and between our youth.
Our event will begin at Iglesia de Restauracion, where Bishop Blake will take the pulpit. This will be followed by a 2 block procession to West Angeles Church, where we will continue our worship, and conclude the night with a message from Rev. Molina.
It is our true joy to coordinate this event and to respond to the expressed desire of many of you to have a space where we can unite in the Spirit of our loving Savior. Undoubtedly, it is only with His strength that we will have the wisdom and the courage to bring about transformative change to our communities. Let us then begin the work of preparing ourselves and our congregations for what will be a night to remember.
We highly encourage you to invite your whole congregation. If you personally cannot attend, please ask one of your associate pastors, or lay church leaders to represent.
Please RSVP for yourself and for your congregants.
We will be following up with you in the next few days and weeks to ensure that you have all the information you need and to see how you would like to be involved.
Peace & Blessings,
Rev. Alexia Salvatierra & Diana Mendoza
